This season,

Veles Ensemble has been busy weaving our way through churches, Cotswold villages, and the occasional harmonic jungle — all while expanding our repertoire and our collection of concert‑night anecdotes.

🌿 January: Ladies in Green vs. Max Reger

We kicked off the year in Muswell Hill, dressed in coordinated shades of green (purely by accident, but we’ll take the aesthetic win). Reger’s Op. 77b gave us a workout worthy of a musical obstacle course, while Beethoven’s Op. 3 let us dance our way back into the light. The audience was warm, the acoustics were glowing, and yes — we still failed to take a group photo where everyone looks the same way.

🌸 March: Magnolia, Boccherini, and the Cotswolds

By March, Blockley welcomed us with magnolia blossoms and sunshine. Our programme hopped from Boccherini’s playful grin to Beethoven’s gravitas, then onward to Kodály’s folk fire and Dohnányi’s lyrical charm. The reception was so warm we briefly considered staying until the next bloom.

🎶 Expanding the Veles Universe

This season we’re stretching our musical wings:

  • rediscovering classical‑era gems,
  • championing early 20th‑century treasures,
  • and plotting future adventures with contemporary composers.

If it’s underperformed, overlooked, or delightfully quirky, chances are it’s on our music stands.

✨ What’s Next

More concerts, more repertoire, more mischief — and we can’t wait to see where the next score, village hall, or harmonic plot twist takes us.
